What time can I have fireworks?
It is only legal to set off fireworks between 7am and 11pm. There are only a few exceptions when fireworks can be set off later and these are as follows:
until midnight on Bonfire Night (Nov 5th)
until 1:00am on New Year’s Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year
This law is for both professional displays and consumer fireworks.
Legally, what should a professional fireworks company have in place?
Public/Product Liability Insurance to a minimum of £5 million (We have £10 million)
Licensed stores either by the local authority or the HSE (Health & Safety Executive)
Proof of training for members of staff - our Display Managers are BPA (British Pyrotechnics Association) qualified
ADR Class 1 Explosive qualified drivers for the transport of Dangerous Goods
Ideally:
They should be a full time fireworks display company and not hobbyists
Have proof of experience of using professional fireworks at displays
Importers such as ourselves offer better value for money
They should belong to a professional organisation - we are members of the CBI EIG (Explosives Industry Group)
What to look out for:
Check references and the insurance company to make sure the documents are not fraudulent
If the company you meet does not seem professional and you have doubts then most likely they are not the company to use
Are there any additional costs that I need to know about?
Prices quoted for professional displays are all-inclusive covering raw materials, insurance, transport, display set-up, firing, de-rigging, site survey and risk assessment. There are no extra charges unless optional extras are added.
How long does it take to set-up a professional display?
This is dependant on the size of the display and the complexity of the location. Generally £750.00 Incl. VAT displays require a set-up period of two and a half hours, whereas £8000.00 Incl. VAT displays may require twelve hours. Times are explained in advance of a display.
What happens if it rains?
Rain does not affect the performance of the fireworks at our professional displays as the fireworks are waterproofed and waterproof fusing is used. Frontier Fireworks have never cancelled a display due to rain.
Will I need to contact the Civil Aviation Authority?
Frontier Fireworks will deal with this matter on your behalf if it is necessary for the display. Frontier Fireworks are continually in contact with the CAA and know all the processes involved. The CAA do not require notification for all venues.
Can I order goods under £50?
You would need to contact us directly to find out whether we can take orders under £50. As a general rule, we are happy to accept orders under £50 for any fireworks orders in the local area or for candle bags. However you would need to order direct from us and not through the website.
